Dr. Greer highly recommends these products for eye health, here’s her Top 10 List:
01
OPTASE
eyelid cleansing wipes
Why?
Tea tree oil is known to have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and is helpful in the management of blepharitis. The Optase formula specifically is gentle and the wipes are large and soft.
02
BRUDER MASK
microwaveable eye compress
Why?
The majority of dry eye cases are thought to be “evaporative”. This means that your eye is producing enough tears but they just evaporate too quickly! To help prevent tear evaporation you want to increase the oil component of the tear. Using warm compresses can help stimulate the oil glands around your eyes to release their oils. The treatment is safe, natural, and effective when done as prescribed! The bruder mask is cheap and easy to use.
03
CORDLESS
ELECTRIC DRY EYE MASK
heated eye mask
Why?
Similar to the bruder mask, this cordless electric dry eye mask is convenient, easy to use and is great for travel.
04
GenTeal GEL
lubricant eye gel
Why?
Gel or ointment helps to coat your eye and protect the eye surface while you sleep. I find genteal to have the most soothing formula with minimal lasting residue on eyelids and lashes.
05
BLINK
triple care
Why?
Keep your eyes moist! Your eyes were meant to be wet! The blink eye drop has a lighter consistency, causes less blurring when you put it in. Polyethylene Glycol 400 is the main ingredient and has a consistency similar to the natural tear.
06
BIOTRUE
lubricant eye drops
Why?
Biotrue seems to be the most “natural” artificial tear. It’s main ingredient is glycerin which is derived from nature! Additionally, this bottle type allows for a preservative free formula, which is an added benefit.
07
OPTASE
dry eye intense drops
Why?
Keep your eyes moist! Your eyes were meant to be wet! This replenishing eyedrop has a thicker/more viscous texture and is extra soothing. Its main ingredient is glycerin a naturally occurring chemical that has unique hydrating properties! Also, this bottle type allows for a preservative free formula, which is an added benefit. Just realize, that some people do not like the thicker consistency because it blurs your vision temporarily when you put it in the eye. Also, these preservative free bottle droppers are a bit harder to squeeze for those with arthritis.
08
PATADAY
eye allergy itch relief
Why?
This is my favorite drop for people who suffer from seasonal allergies. It is safe to use long term, no side effects, and the extra strength has a once-a-day dosing making it very convienient!
09
AVENOVA
lid & lash cleansing spray
Why?
Avenova eyelid spray help control bacteria and inflammation of the eyelids. It is easy and quick to use. Make sure to close your eyes. With the eyes closed, spray one time on each eyelid. Let the medicine dry– couldn’t be easier!
10
LUMIFY
redness reliever eye drops
Why?
Lumify is definitely the best eye drop to help take the red out of your eye. A cousin eyedrop, brimonidine, has been used for many years in the treatment of glaucoma. It is a very safe drop to use long term. Keep in mind, a minority of patients can get an allergy to it. Unlike other “red reducing” eyedrops it does not create long lasting changes to the blood vessels on the eye.
